Identification (biometrics, digital identity) is the process of providing the essentials of a person’s (digital) identity (name, biometric characteristics such as fingerprint, iris scan, DNA, etc.). Depending on the process and service, different qualities of identity of a person may be used. Biometric identification is a process of using biometric characteristics of a person to identify him or her.
