Journal Panel

Tuesday, 4th September 2007; 16:00 - 17:30

Moderated by:
Jochen Scholl, University of Washington, USA

This panel is intended to bring more closely together the journals/publishers dedicated to e-government research and the e-government researcher community. For the first time at a major conference, such a face-to-face meeting is going to take place. It is intended to serve journal editors and publishers to meet their target audience and potential contributors, on the one hand,, and the individual e-government researcher to meet their potential editors and publishers, on the other hand.

The following journals/publishers have confirmed their participation in the panel discussion (alphabetical order):

  • John C Bertot, Government Information Quarterly (Elsevier)
  • Frank Bannister, Information Polity (IOS Press)
  • Ed Hovy, Journal of Technology and Politics (Haworth/Taylor & Francis)

The following journals/publishers have been invited and confirmation of participation is pending (alphabetical order):

  • eGovernment; An International Journal (inderscience)
  • International Journal of E-Government Research (IGI)
  • Transforming Government (Emerald)

During the panel discussion, each journal/publisher will have an opportunity to briefly introduce the journal and the publisher. We will then engage into a discussion on the future directions of the study domain of e-government, and which particular roles the journals and publishers intend to play in those projected developments. Journal editors and publishers may want to detail, which particular avenues of e-government research they are interested in the most. We will also discuss how the e-government societies around the world can better liaise with the journals and publishers. Finally, we expect that panelists engage into an exchange of ideas with the audience.

We have asked all publishers to provide the EGOV07 attendees with leaflets and copies of back issues (if applicable).
